An aqueduct refers to an elevated water channel (water bridge) that transports canal water across rivers, valleys, lowlands, and roads. The Bazhang River Aqueduct, completed in 1930, is located between 24k+589 and 24k+845 of the North Main Canal, with its southern end in Baihe District, Tainan City, and its northern end in Shuishang Township, Chiayi County. The aqueduct is 256 meters long, composed of a 13-span simply supported concrete bridge with a span of 19.5 meters. The water channel has a width of 3.63 meters and a height of 3.21 meters, with the piers built on semicircular caisson foundations at both ends. The lower section serves as a water channel, while the upper section is accessible to pedestrians and cyclists.

The aqueduct transports irrigation, domestic, and industrial water to Chiayi County, irrigating approximately 25,000 hectares of agricultural land. For a century, it has quietly transported raw water from the reservoir, acting as the lifeline of Chiayi County and a vital piece of infrastructure that ensures social stability. In recognition of its significance, the Tainan City Government has officially designated this aqueduct as a municipal heritage site.
